Dan Abrams of MSNBC - WTF??

Wed Jan 30, 2008 at 06:27:38 PM PDT

For the Record- I really, really, really am not writing a hit Diary on Hillary Clinton here, but wondering, in all honesty, what I just witnessed on MSNBC.  Had his peeve concerned John Edwards or Barrack Obama, I am sure I'd be writing the same Diary.  None of the campaigns are responsible for how Dan Abrams acted tonight.

I don't write many Diaries, content to lurk for the most part, but I'd appreciate an informal straw-poll of Kossacks concerning Dan Abrams of MSNBC...

I admit that I haven't watched much of that station aside from Keith O., there being nothing much else to watch with the likes of Norah "In-Your-Face" O'Donnell, Chris "Tweety" Matthews and Joe "Bigger-Headed Conan" Scarborough (O.K., I have a few nicknames for the media clowns, sue me), but I had MSNBC on tonight while D.A.'s show started, and I was struck by a thought.

That being, "WTF?"

Is it me, or is Dan Abrams completely in the tank for the Clinton campaign?  The only other option I'd have would be, "Or is he just bored and wishing for more of the type of pre-South Carolina commotion we've witnessed?"

I only ask this because when I began to pay attention to his histrionics, I noticed that he has a particular burr under his saddle about how "the media" has, according to him, sadly neglected the Clinton campaign.

For example, he's apparently upset that Clinton's non-win in Florida is being portrayed as...well...a non-win.

A couple of guests, Rachel Maddow included, told him that if there was no campaigning, and no delegate award, then all the Florida non-primary was, was a poll...

Dan didn't like that. And none of his guests' explanations seemed to be able to soothe him.

Aside: Isn't he some kind of managing editor there?  Is he supposed to be injecting his opinion into the news story, and advocating for a particular  bent, or have I missed something here?

He then, following the break, began to belabor the fact (or, again, his opinion) that Bill Clinton has been "smeared" (his wording) and that his "off-the-cuff" comments about Barrack Obama being blown out of proportion, and he lamented the fact that Bill Clinton has hitherto been highly entertaining, but has now been "muzzled" by "teh media."

Another Aside: Is Dan Abrams part of another entity, of which I am unaware, that is similar to but does not include the appellation "teh media?"

Conclusion: This is not a hit Diary on the Clintons.  I am merely astounded by what passes for "journalism" in the MSM, and wondering if anyone else has witnessed this particular spectacle, this evening, from this gentleman from MSNBC.

If I were a cynical person, I'd wonder what exactly is bothering Dan Abrams, and why...
